As architects, developers or site reliability engineers, you probably use cloud infrastructure platforms at some stage of application deployment, either development, staging or production. There are several reasons you probably deploy to the cloud, with some common reasons being elasticity, agility and lower cost. While there are several cloud infrastructure alternatives available today for you to deploy your app, you probably want the flexibility to move from one cloud platform to another as your needs change. Over time, you may look for better SLA’s, lower costs, or migrate to your own private cloud. To avoid vendor lock-in, your app needs cloud portability, that is the ability to migrate your application to any cloud without app changes.
To make it easier for you to take your Couchbase applications and seamlessly deploy them to any cloud infrastructure, you can now use the Cloudify recipe for Couchbase. Cloudify is an open-source platform and the Couchbase recipe lets you specify the deployment configuration – what middleware services to use, dependencies between services, where to find the application binaries, when to spin-up instances and when to terminate existing ones.
Another thing nice about Cloudify widget or player. You can create a recipe (or use the exiting Couchbase one) and then, with a few simple steps generate HTML code like the one showed below that you can embed into any web page.
Then with a single click, you can deploy Couchbase and test drive your app. The widget may not give you the complete Couchbase experience you get with a full cloud deployment but it will get your started.
